1st Lt. G.B. McIntosh, right, Dallas, Texas, tells Capt. O.V. Jones, Albany, Georgia about his mission over Frankfurt, Germany, after his return to their base in Ridgewell, England.  This is the first mission that Lt. McIntosh has flown since his return from an internment camp in Sweden, where he and Capt. Jones were forced down after participating in a raid on Norway, 24 July 1943.  30 January 1944.

Back of trailer reads 535th ORD.  Box on truck reads 535 SQ. 13, back of passenger seat reads Caution, No Signals, Left Hand Drive.

Bomb loading. Story reads: "Bombs are being loaded in a B-17 Flying Fortress to help the invasion army penetrate Hitler's fortress on the Second Front.  The trailer carries the entire load of 100-pounders the Fortress "Chug-A-Lug IV" will drop, in one of the day's missions during the constant pounding from the air of the German defenses.  As soon as a Fortress returns from one mission it is immediately loaded for the next trip." These bombs are marked AN-M30 100 lb G.P..  Aircraft is B-17G 42-97330 "Chug A Lug IV" MS-S, 535th.  Back of trailer reads 535th ORD.  Box on truck reads 535 SQ. 13, back of passenger seat reads Caution, No Signals, Left Hand Drive.

Story reads:  You are looking down from the radio room through the bomb bay of a U.S. Army 8th A.F. bomber.  A couple of USAAF ordnance men are preparing two 500-lb high explosive bombs which are still on the bomb cart before being lifted into position and fixed into the bomb racks for speedy shipment to enemy territory.  Pfc Alfred G. Hersey, Jr. (top), Newburyport, Mass., adjust the arming wires wile Pfc. Richard P. Kasczorwoski, Bay City, Mich., threads the fin around the bomb. [both from 535th]

The truck and trailer are both marked as belonging to the 532nd.  Picture has a 'mottled' look because of the camouflage netting over the bomb dump.  Truck serial 0012065-S.  A49613
