Ridgewell, Station 167 This is an illustration of Ridgewell, Station 167. The drawing was made from copies of the Ridgewell Record Site Plan created by the Air Ministry and dated January 1945, courtesy of Dave Osborne. Major areas of the base are annotated below.
The bomb dump/depot is located to the extreme north of the station.
The airfield with its three working runways occupies the most prominent
position, note the squadron areas distributed evenly around the
airfield. To the south of the airfield are all of the personnel,
logistics, and support areas. You can see why bicycles played such
an important role in the war effort - they had lot of space to cover.
